Hellion has nearly approached one year’s old at this point and is currently underdevelopment by Zero Gravity and is available on Steam’s Early Access platform. On Hellion you just wake up from Cryo sleep, not quite knowing exactly where you are in space, but your resources are quickly dwindling and you’re going to need to gather some new ones to ensure your survival and eventually your dominance of this deep space. The game is in a 1st person perspective and has you exploring both abandoned and not so abandoned ships, asteroids, and other trash that floats by as times passes. Everything you find could be of some use; you just need to be brave enough to take it for yourself.
Both dark and isolated, Hellion has a dark, space-faring aesthetic that wouldn’t be out of place in Alien and gives a sense of isolation. This is most apparent when you’re going all lone wolf and playing completely alone. You don’t need to play this game with friends, but at times it might be a little more reassuring than without them!
Like any good survival game, you can take what you need from other players/survivors if you come across them. How you acquire equipment is all down to you. You can either be nice or nasty about it. At the end of the day, how you play the game in Hellion is all down to you and that can create a new, unique experience for the player every single time.
The Early Access title Hellion has attracted a lot of negative comments so far with the most common being:
If you love crafting and building space craft then Avorion could be the game for you. Your mission is to go out and explore the vast galaxy’s around you and collect up resources from ships and asteroids to further build out your craft.
The game creates an amazing atmosphere which you can easily get lost in and before you know it hours have passed in real time. Avorion has scored some great reviews on Steam with the games development apparently going in the right direction it would seem.
If you would like more freedom with your crafting then take a look at Empyrion. In this game you can build and control all sorts of vehicles and craft as well as structures. Challenges await you on the planets you can explore in Empyrion and you have to use your creativity to ensure you survive.
The game has taken a sudden downturn in the way of reviewers sentiment. Apparently the developers have taken some bad advice from a small portion of the community that has ruined the game for more veteran players.
Adding an awesome new hindrance to Hellion to increase the difficultly, the debris fields appear randomly on the map and are bound to make the players life a lot more difficult.
