Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds may be quite a mouthful, but as of right now is considered the premier and most popular shooter out on the market. Popularising the H1Z1 experience where you drop in somewhere on a large map, alongside 99-other players, and try to survive the world’s deadliest deathmatch available. After flying high above the clouds, drop down onto ground to find yourself a decent weapon and some armour to try and keep yourself alive and potentially become the no.1 contender. PUBG praises itself with being a 3rd person/1st person shooter battle royale experience that takes the fun and engaging elements of the Arma series, without going too hardcore to make playing the game from a casual perspective a real pain.
Looking at the game from an aesthetic standpoint, you’ve got a realistic shooter style that wouldn’t be amiss from something along the lines of Arma. This means the location you encroach upon are designed for tactical and strategic plays. Despite it not being the most colourful game, there’s almost always something to learn from each new area of the map you come across and before too long that knowledge is going to be put to the test, and may just be the very reason you survive that next encounter.
With constant updates and optimisations on the horizon for PUBG, there’s a little bit of something for everyone that enjoys a good online shooter, without having to worry about learning the game and its mechanics from the very offset. Once you leap from that plane, just how well you do is all down to your skill, awareness, and occasionally a bit of luck to survive to become the winner and acquire that chicken dinner!
PUBG, although being played by over 2 million people at any given time, has seen an influx of negative reviews recently. Here we explore what has gone wrong:
A very similar game to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is Fortnite. In both of these games you drop into a battlefield and have to scavenge in order to gain an edge over your competitors. Fortnite does differ in one major way though, you are able to craft structures. If you wanted to erect a simple dwelling to help defend yourself then you are able to with Fortnite.
Bother Fortnite and PUBG have seen explosive success in the 2017 to 2018 period with audiences flocking to the game from other big FPS titles.
An epic long standing multiplayer game that is amazingly free on the Steam platform is Team Fortress 2. In TF2 you can specialise as a certain role in the match with which you can take to your advantage in a rock, paper scissors style. The cartoon’y graphics and slight humour added to the game ensure that you don’t take it too seriously.
TF2 enjoys constant updates from Valve who ensure that the game stays up to date even with a zero price tag attached to it. Its hard to complain about a free game so you will rarely find anything bad said about the game. This also could be because its just so well made.
