rFactor is a game that focuses on providing you with a quality car simulation. It’s well designed and offers a wide range of cool mods and other impressive stuff. But at the same time it embeds your cars with interesting physics and intense racing. You will like the great focus on car components and the immense realism. At the same time you need to know that the game offers a lot of racing customisation. Including many tracks for you to enjoy, which is a major plus.
The initial game was created off the back of F1 Challange 99-02, with many calling this game the evolution of the original F1 game. Although rFactor did not have the licencing from Formula 1. Which meant that developers had to first create fictional tracks. That wasn’t the only problem as they were also only able to release 6 classes of car. Two of which are open wheel and the other four are Sudan class cars. Although many cars and tracks were added in later patches and updates. As well as a load of community driven mods, that helped expand the game.
Although modding was not considered a huge part of this game when it was first released in 2005. The community later grew an interest in adding their own free content. Many fans also ported over a lot of cars from other games including Forza and Need for speed. With the addition of the mod called Shift Street. But it wasn’t only the cars that entered the game, it was also the race tracks. With many of the circuits from GTR and the Grand Prix series appearing several years later.
A sequel was also released in early 2013 called rFactor 2. The game improved upon several areas that were not addressed in the first game. Including shading, textures and the addition of weather including rain graphics. This led to improvements also being made to reflections and environmental physics. The game was also designed to be revolved around mods. With developers adding the worlds first in game dedicated mod system. This was a big step for the series after it’s initial release in 2005.
Even though there is currently only one host offering rFactor server hosting. We are always searching the hosting community for more suppliers. So be sure to check back in future if you would like to rent from a a different company. We apologies in the mean time, but please understand that this game is rather old. Hence why people no longer offer hosting.
Project Cars is a lot newer than rFactor and has a lot more newer cars available for players to drive. With a huge number of car licenses and tracks that have been placed in this game. This really is one to invest in if you want to expand your driving library. Although many say that the game is a little restricted when it comes to the modding community. This is because developers were more focused on the selling of DLC. Which is why there is not lot a of community content to download.
We advise picking up the Game of the Year edition if you want to buy this game. Because a lot of the DLC is included in this edition.
